Class of 2028
Major: Government and Foreign Affairs and Public Health

From the classroom to Campus Ministry, Molly Durkin is embracing every opportunity at Walsh University to grow in faith and purpose. “What appealed to me most about Walsh was the community and the people I met here. From my first visit, I felt a genuine sense of welcome and belonging that made the campus community stand out,” she said. Drawn to the opportunity to grow academically and spiritually, Molly also valued staying close to home while experiencing independence. “After attending public school my entire life, I was drawn to the chance to grow in my Catholic faith through my education, relationships, and campus opportunities,” she explained.

Since arriving on campus, Molly’s faith has deepened in ways she hadn’t expected. “The opportunities for adoration have given me a consistent space for quiet reflection and a chance to encounter Christ in a more personal way. Spending that time in His presence has strengthened not only my trust in God but also my desire to live out my faith daily,” she shared. Bible studies and Christ-centered relationships on campus have reinforced her spiritual growth, helping her integrate faith into every aspect of her life. “Being surrounded by people who share my values and push me to grow has truly helped me integrate my faith more fully into every part of my life,” Molly said.

Academically, Molly is pursuing a double major in Government and Foreign Affairs and Public Health. “I chose this path because I have always been passionate about serving others and believe that a career in law will allow me to represent and advocate for people in meaningful ways,” she explained. She hopes to pursue medical malpractice law, combining her love for service with practical knowledge from her Public Health major. “I felt it was important to strengthen my understanding of medical terminology and practices so that I could be better prepared to navigate the complexities of the healthcare field if I pursue medical malpractice law,” Molly said.

Molly is equally active outside the classroom. As a student-athlete on the STUNT and Cheerleading teams, Chief Justice of Student Government, Secretary of the Pre-Law Club, and a member of SAAC and Campus Ministry, she balances leadership, service, and academics. A transformational moment came when she was chosen as an RA alternate. “Although I wasn’t sure what to expect, the two weeks of training before the semester began ended up being one of the most impactful experiences I’ve had here. During that time, I was surrounded by some of the kindest, most genuine people on campus, and in just those two weeks I felt a renewed sense of faith, leadership, and confidence in my ability to build meaningful, lasting friendships,” she said.

Faculty mentorship has been critical to Molly’s journey. She credits Sara Boswell with guiding her from the start. “She is truly the reason I am here. She was overly supportive throughout my senior year of high school when I was completely unsure where I wanted to go… She accommodated the many visits I came on and even connected me with STUNT athletes, which was a huge blessing. Her support did not stop once I got to campus, as I still have a lasting relationship with her as a Sophomore!” Molly said.

Looking ahead, Molly plans to attend law school and one day become a politician. Inspired by her faith, community, and family she strives to serve others with integrity and compassion. “My mom is my greatest role model in all that I do. She continually pushes me to succeed as a leader in and out of the classroom. It is because of her that I continue to strive for excellence and pursue my dreams,” Molly said.
