  • Provider: Walsh University Skilled Technical Workforce (STWF)
  • Credential: Applied Microsoft 365 Copilot and Agent Administration Certificate
  • Length: 8 clock hours across four 2-hour sessions
  • Format: Live, virtual and instructor-led, with an applied lab in every session and a final project
  • Level: Intermediate to Advanced
  • Prerequisites: None
  • Tools: Microsoft 365 admin center, Microsoft Purview and Copilot Studio
  • Data: A live lab tenant with sample data

Designed for IT and Microsoft 365 professionals, this program prepares participants to roll out Microsoft 365 Copilot securely and to create custom AI agents for their organization. All four sessions take place in a live lab tenant, culminating in a pilot Copilot deployment and a published, tested agent.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion, participants will be able to:

  • Assess identity, licensing and permission settings to determine an organization's Copilot readiness
  • Detect and remediate overshared content using data access reports
  • Assign Copilot licenses and manage Copilot controls from the Microsoft 365 admin center
  • Govern the data Copilot can access using Microsoft Purview labels, data loss prevention and auditing
  • Create, test and publish custom agents in Copilot Studio with knowledge sources, topics, actions and connectors
  • Track usage, review audit logs and resolve Copilot configuration problems

Training Outline

1. Preparing the Tenant (2 hrs):

Copilot readiness review of identity, licensing and permissions; data access and oversharing reports; content remediation. Applied lab: Complete a readiness review and remediate overshared content in a lab tenant.

2. Copilot Licensing and Data Governance (2 hrs):

License assignment and admin center controls; Purview sensitivity labels, DLP and audit configuration. Applied lab: Apply Copilot controls and data governance policies.

3. Creating Custom Agents (2 hrs):

Agent design in Copilot Studio: knowledge sources, topics, actions and connectors; testing, publishing and lifecycle management. Applied lab: Create a custom agent and publish it.

4. Prompt Templates, Monitoring and Support (2 hrs):

Designing and testing structured prompt templates; validating AI responses; usage and audit log review; configuration troubleshooting. Final project: Roll out Copilot to a pilot group and publish a tested agent.

Assessment and Credentials

Every session includes an applied lab, and the program concludes with a final project. Participants who complete all four sessions and the final project receive a certificate of completion from Walsh University Skilled Technical Workforce (STWF) titled “Applied Microsoft 365 Copilot and Agent Administration.”

Skills That Transfer Beyond

These competencies (Copilot readiness and oversharing remediation, licensing and admin controls, Microsoft Purview data governance, agent creation in Copilot Studio, prompt template design, AI output validation and monitoring) reflect the day-to-day responsibilities of Microsoft 365 administrators supporting generative AI adoption and carry over to any organization running Microsoft 365. Since the skills center on a widely adopted platform and not on one employer's processes, participants keep them as they move between roles and employers.

Data and Privacy in Class

All labs run in a Walsh training environment with sample data rather than any one employer's systems.
