Traditional Early Assurance Direct Freshman Entry into the Doctor of Occupational Therapy Program
A select group of high school seniors may be eligible for Walsh University's Early Assurance Doctor of Occupational Therapy admission. Students who enroll at Walsh as Psychology Pre-OT or Exercise Science Pre-OT majors and meet the requirements below may be guaranteed early acceptance to complete their Master's or Doctorate of Occupational Therapy degree at Walsh. Students begin four years of undergraduate work and then move on to complete the Doctor of Occupational Therapy program in seven semesters.
Prior to Attending Walsh University, students must:
- Be accepted to Walsh University – Apply to Walsh
- Have a high school cumulative GPA of a 3.5 or higher
- Complete a standardized interview with OT program faculty
Once students are admitted to Walsh University, the Office of Admissions will reach out to all students who meet the requirements listed above. The Office of Admissions will move forward with scheduling an interview between the student and the Walsh University OT Program Faculty. The Walsh University OT Program Faculty make the official admission decision into the Early Assurance OTD Program.
Once at Walsh University:
- Must be enrolled in Psychology Pre-OT or Exercise Science Pre-OT major
- Complete pre-requisites for the program with a 3.3 GPA or higher
- Must maintain an overall GPA of 3.3 or higher during their undergraduate education
- Must meet the requirements of OTD admissions (with the exception of the OTCAS application) as follows:
• 3 letters of recommendation from an employer, supervisor, instructor, or coach
• Documentation of 20 hours of clinical observation in at least 2 different locations
• Successful completion of an interview with two OT faculty members prior to matriculation into the graduate program
