Walsh’s Theology degree unites rigorous Catholic scholarship with the personal formation of a small, values-driven university. Students don’t just study theology; they learn to integrate faith, reason, and service in ways that shape their purpose, strengthen their impact on the world, and help them navigate the next steps in their journey.
Walsh’s Theology degree is rooted in the Catholic intellectual tradition and shaped by a liberal arts core, helping students think deeply, reason well, and engage with faith in today’s world.
Students learn in supportive, discussion-based environments guided by faculty who challenge them to grow intellectually, spiritually, and professionally.
Coursework connects theology with real-world issues—ethics, culture, social justice, pastoral practice—preparing students to serve their communities with compassion and integrity.
Theology majors broaden their perspective through experiential learning, local service projects, and global Study Beyond opportunities that strengthen cultural awareness and reflect Walsh’s commitment to faith and servant leadership.
A Theology degree from Walsh helps students explore where faith, service, and leadership intersect, preparing them for vocations that make a meaningful impact in their community and the world. Graduates use their theological training to serve others, think critically, and lead with integrity across a wide range of fields.

Every Walsh student — including Theology majors — completes at least one internship before graduation. These experiences help students apply their theological study in real-world contexts, build leadership and communication skills, explore vocational interests, and strengthen their résumé and professional readiness.
Common internship sites include parishes, diocesan offices, youth ministry programs, schools, campus ministry teams, service organizations, and Catholic or Christian nonprofits.
Students pursuing another major at Walsh can also add a Supplementary Major in Theology.
This option is ideal for students in fields like Education, Nursing, Philosophy, Psychology, History, or Business who want a deeper understanding of faith, ethics, and human experience while enhancing their primary program of study.
A supplementary major provides broad preparation in theology and complements a student’s main academic field. It is taken in addition to a primary major and appears on the student’s academic transcript.
Note: A supplementary major is not a stand-alone degree and does not appear on the diploma; it is awarded alongside the primary major.
