Steve and I met on a Walsh ski club trip. I did not know Steve personally before the trip but I had heard his name around campus. I had only been skiing a handful of times before the trip and Steve was practically a pro so initially, we didn't hang out much (probably because I was mostly wiping out on the hills). I think Steve felt sorry for me because after a few days, we began talking and hanging out. When we returned home from the trip, Steve asked me out on a date and the rest is history.
The Proposal:
Since we met on a snowboarding trip, it was only fitting that Steve proposed at a ski resort. At the time, Steve was working at Boston Mills/Brandywine ski resort. We had met up to enjoy a day of snowboarding. I could tell something was up because that particular day, Steve was very quiet (which if you know Steve, this is way out of character). We rode the lift up one of the larger hills. Once we got off the lift, we sat down to strap into our snowboards. Only later was I told that this particular spot was the initial proposal spot. But I ruined that by strapping into my boots quickly and heading down the hill. On the way down, one of my boot straps broke. When we got to the bottom of the hill, I asked Steve to look at it for me. He bent down and said, "Oh I see what the problem is" and when I looked down, he was on one knee and he asked me to marry him.
Where are you now?:
9 years later, we have 2 beautiful daughters (Isabella, 3 and Macie, 1), 2 dogs, and we couldn't be happier. Currently, Steve works at Buckeye Sports Center in Peninsula as a Boat salesman. Megan works as an RN at Akron City Hospital on the Labor & Delivery unit. Megan just started grad school this spring to become a Family Nurse Practitioner. Life couldn't be better!
