Walsh University announces the upcoming departure of current University Chaplain Father Guy Albert Trudel, O.P., a Catholic priest and Dominican Friar of the Province of St. Joseph. Father Trudel has been reassigned by his Order and will be departing the university at the end of the academic year. Father Trudel was appointed in June 2023 following the reassignment of Dominican Father Louis Bertrand Lemoine, O.P., to the Carthusian monastery, the Charterhouse of the Transfiguration, in Vermont.
Since joining Walsh University, Father Trudel has played a vital role in fostering a strong Catholic presence on campus. Throughout his time at Walsh, he has encouraged and promoted Catholic social teaching, guided students in their personal and spiritual development, and enriched campus life through vibrant sacramental and liturgical celebrations.
President Tim Collins expressed gratitude for Father Trudel’s service stating, “Father Albert has faithfully served the students and our community with the hallmarks of a Dominican presence: “to praise, to bless, and to preach!” His commitment to our Catholic mission and ability to connect with students has been invaluable. We wish him well in his new role and are grateful for the lasting impact he has made on our campus community.”
As a distinguished scholar and pastor, Father Trudel brings a wealth of knowledge to his new assignment where he will serve as a full-time faculty member at Providence College, a Catholic university founded by the Dominican Order and Roman Catholic Diocese of Providence.
Walsh University expresses its deep gratitude for Father Trudel’s service and wishes him blessings in his next assignment. An announcement about Walsh University’s incoming University Chaplain, who will arrive on July 1, 2025, will be forthcoming.
