Walsh University’s student-led dance marathon program, Cavathon, celebrated its 11th year with the annual dance event benefiting Akron Children’s Hospital and the Children’s Miracle Network. On Saturday, April 5, from 12–8 p.m., Walsh students came together to celebrate a yearlong fundraising effort and welcome patients and families from Akron Children’s. Cavathon 2025 raised over $34,000 by the conclusion of the main event, with donations continuing to roll in.
Throughout the day, students enjoyed live music from a DJ, dancing, Zumba, games, a tug-of-war competition, a “jail” fundraising activity, and more. Nine Miracle Kids attended this year’s event, sharing their inspiring stories and reminding participants of the impact their efforts make. Eight Walsh students achieved Comma Club status by raising over $1,000 each. Walsh was also proud to welcome a participant from Stark State College, Mackenzie Roach, who joined in the day’s activities.
This year’s success was made possible thanks in part to the generosity of corporate sponsors, including KebCo, Buckeye Credit Union, and Wheeling and Lake Erie Railway. Cavathon reflects Walsh University’s commitment to service, inspiring students to put their compassion into action in support of Akron Children’s Hospital and the Children’s Miracle Network.
