Jami Swain Appointed As Vice President for Human Resources

Walsh University has named Jami Swain, a 2012 alumna, as Vice President for Human Resources, effective immediately. Swain, who has served as Director of Human Resources and Culture since October 2023, brings over 20 years of leadership experience in human resources and organizational development to the role.

“Since joining Walsh University over a year ago, Jami has embodied the values that define our campus community and has made meaningful contributions to our culture,” said President Tim Collins. “With her deep institutional knowledge and forward-thinking leadership, Jami is uniquely positioned to advance Walsh University’s mission and shape its future by supporting and promoting our people, culture, and community.”

As Vice President, Swain will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of Walsh University. As a member of the President’s Cabinet, she will collaborate with University leaders to advance institutional priorities, including the Walsh 4.0 strategy, which focuses on fostering innovation, enhancing workplace culture, and aligning organizational goals with the evolving needs of students, faculty, staff, and the broader Walsh community.

Swain was recognized in 2023 with Crain’s Cleveland Business Excellence in HR Award for Employee Experience and Retention. Her extensive career includes leadership roles at The City Mission, Stark Community Foundation, and The Salvation Army’s Summit County Area Services.

A proud alumna, Swain earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and management with a concentration in human resources from Walsh University. She also completed her Master of Labor Relations and Human Resources (MLRHR) from Cleveland State University in August 2024. Swain is a certified Society for Human Resource Management professional (SHRM-CP) and an active member of SHRM at both the national and local levels, including the Stark County Human Resource Association (SCHRA). She is also a member of the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR).

In her new role, Swain will continue to oversee human resources strategy, organizational development, and culture enhancement, supporting Walsh University’s mission as an independent, faith-based institution.
