Walsh University has appointed Brian Richards, MLIS, as the Director of Library Services. In this role, Richards will spearhead efforts to enhance library services and resources for the campus community while overseeing all aspects of library administration, including operations, services, fiscal management, and collection development.
Richards has extensive experience in various library environments, including higher education, K-12 education, correctional, and non-profit. He brings a passion for improving the library end-user experience and a commitment to connecting the Walsh community with valuable resources and services.
Prior to joining Walsh University, Richards served as the Library and Resource Director for Eastern Gateway Community College, where he coordinated the delivery of library resources and services, oversaw operations, and engaged with library users to increase awareness of available resources. Richards’ dedication to library services is further evidenced by his involvement in various professional and community engagements, including serving on advisory councils and accreditation committees.
Richards holds a Master of Library and Information Science from Kent State University and a Bachelor of Arts in History from Franciscan University of Steubenville. Additionally, he holds certifications including a Library Media Specialist endorsement from the State of Maine Department of Education.
“I am excited to join the Walsh community and look forward to collaborating with students, faculty, and staff to enhance library services and resources,” Richards said. “My goal is to ensure that the Brother Edmond Drouin Library continues to enrich the academic experience and support the success of Walsh University students.”
