Walsh University's DeVille School of Business proudly announces its second consecutive win in the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute Research Challenge. The team, led by Sam Krakowski, Isaac O'Rielley, Javier Sanchez, Barbara Russo, and Americo Levak, emerged victorious, leaving John Carroll University in a distant second place. The competition was fierce, but our team's dedication and expertise shone through, propelling them to victory once again. With this win, Walsh advances to the next round in March with confidence and determination.
“We are thrilled to achieve this historic milestone for the second year running, a first for Walsh in this competition,” said Chase Senk, Esq., Associate Professor at Walsh University, who served as the team's academic advisor. “Our team's exceptional performance reflects their hard work, dedication, and the unwavering support they received from their mentors and advisors.”
The winning team devoted countless hours to research and preparation, culminating in a stellar presentation in Cleveland. Special recognition goes to industry mentor, Nick Perini, CFA, VP/Portfolio Manager at Beese Fulmer Private Wealth Management, whose guidance and advocacy have been invaluable to the team's success. Perini's commitment to Walsh's CFA teams and related initiatives exemplifies the collaborative spirit within our University.
This victory follows Walsh's outstanding performance in the previous year's competition, solidifying its position as a force to be reckoned with in the finance arena. The team's achievement underscores the University's commitment to providing students with practical, hands-on experiences that enhance their analytical, valuation, and presentation skills.
The CFA Institute Research Challenge is global financial competition that invites more than 6,000 students from more than 1,000 universities to test students' abilities in financial analysis, report writing, and presentation skills. Walsh University's Finance program, affiliated with the CFA Institute, continues to demonstrate excellence, earning recognition and enabling students to pursue scholarships for the CFA examination.
As Walsh advances to the regional semifinals, scheduled for March, the team remains focused on the ultimate prize: victory in the global finals in early May. Their journey exemplifies the spirit of determination and excellence that defines Walsh University and the DeVille School of Business.
