Walsh University has appointed Christina Paone ‘06 as Interim Vice President for Athletics and Athletic Director effective immediately, and she will retain these executive-level responsibilities until June 30, 2025, as a national search is conducted next year.
“We are delighted to have Christina serve in this leadership role and welcome her to the executive leadership team,” said Walsh University President Tim Collins. “She is well respected for her more than 12 years of service to Walsh Athletics in various capacities, including as an Interim Athletic Director, and we are thankful she has accepted the challenge of leading our athletic programs and now serving on the Cabinet as she continues to drive excellence in mission across the Athletic department.”
As a member of the President’s Cabinet, she contributes to the strategic direction of the university as we build Walsh 4.0 while also overseeing the Intercollegiate Athletics program including management of coaching and administrative personnel, the annual operating budget, sponsorship contract negotiations, fundraising, athletic facilities and 22 intercollegiate athletic programs. Paone will also be responsible for compliance with Title IX regulations, managing game operations, media and athletic communications, sports medicine, and strength and conditioning for Walsh.
With extensive athletic experience and experience as the Interim Athletic Director for Walsh University from September 2022 through February 2023, Paone is committed to building a best-in-class intercollegiate athletic program alongside her colleagues in the Athletic Department.
Since joining Walsh University in 2011 as Head Coach for Women’s Golf, Paone became Head Coach of the Men’s Golf team, recruiting and overseeing the success of both programs since 2020. Most recently, Paone coached the Women’s program to their first team appearance at the NCAA Regional Championships in 2023 as well as an individual NCAA Super Regional appearance on the Men’s side in 2023.
Paone serves on the NCAA Regional Advisory Committee for Men’s Golf, the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Branding Committee and oversees the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) on campus and holds the title of our Deputy Title IX Coordinator for Athletics. She has also served as the Senior Woman Administrator, a duty which will now pass to Katie Connell, Head Softball Coach.
Paone earned her Bachelor of Arts in Marketing from Walsh University in 2006. During that time, she played on the Cavaliers first intercollegiate golf team which went on to compete in the NAIA national championships.
