Walsh University has appointed Melanie Timco as the Director of Prevention Education and Programming. Bringing 23 years of educational and leadership experience to this role, Timco will be instrumental in advancing the campus-wide, cross-enterprise Cavaliers Safeguard Initiative by securing funding, enhancing programming and optimizing campus safety through the development of prevention education and the provision of high-quality support services.

Prior to joining Walsh University in November 2023, Timco served at two other universities, both as a professor and as a grant project director. She also worked in K-12 education as an administrator and teacher.
Timco is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Education & Organizational Leadership at Liberty University, where she has immersed herself in coursework encompassing contemporary organizational dynamics, risk management, effective team leadership, and organizational change. Additionally, her educational background includes an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from the University of Cincinnati, an M.Ed in Education from Baldwin Wallace University, and a B.S. in Education from The University of Akron.
Timco is passionate about serving others and is a committed volunteer at Rahab Ministries as a court-appointed mentor within Summit County Juvenile Court's Restore Court docket, a trailblazing initiative as the first juvenile human trafficking docket certified by the Ohio Supreme Court. Armed with a deep understanding of trauma-informed practices, she mentors youth who were either trafficked or faced heightened vulnerability, offering the support system all students deserve. Timco’s dedication extends beyond the courtroom as she actively participated in the street team for human trafficking, directly engaging with those who are actively trafficked on the very streets they walked. Through her involvement, she provided immediate assistance, resources, and kindness, contributing to the broader mission of combating human trafficking and restoring lives.
