After a national search with Hyatt-Fennel, Executive Search and a cross-enterprise search committee, Walsh University is pleased to announce the appointment of Eric Constant, Ph.D. a 20-year fundraising veteran with an impressive record of accomplishment, as the new Vice President for Philanthropy. Dr. Constant will head up the newly created Department of Philanthropy and serve as a member of the President’s Cabinet beginning August 7, 2023.
“Dr. Eric Constant brings energy, purpose and distinguished experience to the University at a time when we are creating a culture of philanthropy and gratitude while building on the generous local support we have appreciated for 63 years,” said President Tim Collins. “He is deeply interested in furthering our mission and contributing to the Walsh 4.0 strategies and initiatives that are raising Walsh’s profile and putting the University in a place of national prominence.”
Dr. Constant comes to Walsh from Dynamic Catholic Institute in Erlanger, Kentucky, where he served as the chief development officer and directed efforts that raise $25 MM annually, including a capital campaign and a comprehensive philanthropy strategy. As Vice President for Philanthropy, he will represent Walsh University in the community, lead a capital campaign, and plan and execute a comprehensive development plan to increase capacity and drive revenue by securing external support for the University through campaigns, annual giving, major gifts, planned giving and other programs. He will also lead a team of professionals inspired to expand Walsh’s philanthropic base beyond traditional sources of support.

In addition to his Advancement roles in higher education and two national Catholic organizations, Dr. Constant has presented at national and international conferences, he’s a published academic, and has taught at Grand Valley State University and Michigan State University. He holds a doctorate from Michigan State University in Medieval Religious and Intellectual History, a Master of Arts in History from Northwestern University and a bachelor's degree in History from Michigan State University.
