Walsh University has announced the appointment of Alexandria Sanders as University Registrar. Sanders, who had worked as Registrar Specialist beginning in 2019, Assistant Registrar in 2020, and most recently Associate Registrar, rose through the ranks, accomplishing numerous upgrades to Walsh processes and procedures that reflect a more student-centered model. Among her many accomplishments, she bridged the technology gap in the Office of the Registrar.
Sanders partnered with National Student Clearinghouse to electronically produce enrollment and degree verifications and e-transcripts, which drastically reduced manual hours and cost. Students can now receive transcripts the day they are requested. Sanders implemented Transferology, a site where students can monitor their transfer credits, aiding in the recruitment of new transfer students. Sanders is also implementing SoftDocs, a form management software that eliminates the need for paper forms and allows students to oversee the workflow and receive communications throughout the process.
“The excitement, drive and passion that Alex brings to this important role will serve our students, faculty and staff well,” said Associate Vice President for Academic Administration Dr. Edna McCulloh, Sanders’ supervisor. “Alex is determined to provide innovative support services that will positively impact our student retention and graduation rates. She is a great addition to the Academic Services leadership team.”
Sanders, who graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Kent State University in 2014, previously worked for Central Michigan University and Bowling Green State University, where she gained expertise in recruitment and retention. She also has experience as a case manager working with troubled youth in Michigan, a position she believes helped shape her career.
“While my experience as a college athlete planted a seed in me to pursue a career in higher education, it was that position that helped reveal my passion and talent for guiding others,” Sanders said. “I look forward to continuing efforts to modernize the Office of the Registrar to meet the needs of our ever-evolving student population.”
