Fundraiser features bourbon barrel bar, live music and “experience” auction
Walsh University President Dr. Tim Collins and his bride Drenda Collins, who are new to the area, want to show their Southern hospitality by hosting an event they hope will become a new tradition. The Southern Soirée is an opportunity for the Collins’ to celebrate their southern roots with members of the community while raising much needed funds to bridge the financial gap for Walsh University students. For this special occasion, guests are encouraged to wear their finest Southern apparel such as seersucker jackets, georgette dresses, bow ties and pearls. Reservations for the Friday, June 10th event, which begins at 6 p.m. at the Walsh University Hoover park Dance Hall and Grounds can be made at www.walsh.edu/soiree.
When guests arrive, they’ll be greeted with Southern charm as they stroll through Hoover Park discovering student art, the Whiskey River Saloon and Magnolia Cottage. The online Browse & Bid Silent Auction will feature “experiences” from Walsh Athletics, incredible handmade items from the Walsh Community and more. The live auction will feature a beach house getaway, ‘Barrow of Booze’ and a Mystery Experience. Guests may also sponsor beautiful hand-crafted magnolias for $500 to support student scholarships.
“This is not your typical fundraiser,” said Vice President for Advancement and Alumni Relations Eric Belden. “We want to give people a unique experience and an opportunity to meet President and Mrs. Collins. While they are with us they will also learn about the great things happening at Walsh University and have an opportunity to engage with our amazing students.”
The $100 per person cost includes a full Southern buffet, open wine and beer bar, specialty cocktail in the Magnolia Cottage and whiskey tasting in the Whiskey River Saloon. Tables of eight are also available. Please RSVP before Friday, May 27.
