Walsh University recently pledged its support to Say Yes to Education, a national nonprofit organization committed to making a college degree affordable and attainable for public high school graduates. Walsh also joined the Say Yes to Education National Higher Education Compact, agreeing to cover the cost of full tuition and mandatory fees for a select number of qualifying students.
As part of the agreement, Walsh will offer full tuition scholarships to up to five new students per year from families with household incomes at or below $75,000 in Say Yes communities, focusing on students from the Cleveland Metropolitan School District. The scholarships will cover up to the cost of tuition and mandatory fees.
The local Say Yes Cleveland scholarship fund has committed to provide additional grants, known as Choice Grants, to eligible applicants whose family income exceeds the income threshold. Those grants are valued at up to $5,000 annually.
Walsh has long been committed to making a liberal arts degree affordable. Walsh University President Dr. Tim Collins believes that the partnership with Say Yes to Education aligns with the University’s strategic plan and mission.
“Walsh University helps students harness their potential through career preparation and a liberal arts education that gives them the intellectual, emotional, moral, physical and spiritual tools they need to live life and fulfill their life’s purpose,” said Dr. Tim Collins. “The Say Yes scholarship will improve access to higher education by removing financial barriers that prevent many young people from attaining their dreams while learning to be leaders in service to others.”
Say Yes to Education Cleveland is one of four chapters in the U.S. Walsh University is excited to be a part of this initiative to provide students access to college here locally and nationally.
