Walsh University President Tim Collins will join the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce Board beginning January 1, 2022, and will serve for three years, with the ability to be re-elected for a 2nd three-year term.  Dr. Collins joins the following incoming board members, who will serve the same term:

  • Dr. Timothy Crone, President, Cleveland Mercy Hospital
  • Ryan Fulmer, President, Beese Fulmer
  • Teresa Golden, President, Environmental Flooring Group
  • Don McCord, General Manager, Marathon Petroleum

“As president of one of Stark County’s six colleges and universities, Dr. Collins is an invaluable addition to our Board of Directors,” said Dennis Saunier, president and CEO of the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce. “As our Chamber and larger community address talent and workforce issues, as well as strive to keep more post-secondary students in Stark County, Dr. Collins’ perspective on our board is essential to that effort.”

The Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors helps advance the Chamber’s mission by overseeing all affairs, business, funds, and property of the Chamber, as well as employing the President and CEO. Board members are also expected to follow the three legal responsibilities of a nonprofit board of directors which include a duty of care, loyalty and obedience to the organization. Dr. Collins’ appointment to the board was announced at the Chamber’s 107th Annual Meeting held at the MAPS (Military Aviation Preservation Society) air Museum.

“I am honored to serve as a volunteer member of the board of directors and look forward to making impactful and sustainable contributions to the region,” said Dr. Collins.  “It’s an exciting time to be involved in advancing the economic, industrial, professional, cultural and civic welfare of the greater Canton area. The pandemic has certainly accelerated our thinking on how we develop our cities and create opportunities for the future.”

Dr. Collins’ commitment to the community includes serving on the Board of Directors for the Stark Economic Development Board.
