Walsh University hosted The Community Freedom Summit in partnership with Not For Sale: One Step at a Time, a non-profit organization dedicated to preventing human trafficking and providing education to bring awareness to this modern-day tragedy.
Last year, the event was limited due to COVID-19. This year, we were able to reach more members of the community and families with speakers and education.
Over two days, the event drew approximately 500 participants. On Sept. 24, Walsh athletes participated in a walk around campus to show their solidarity with the victims of human trafficking and to raise awareness of its impact on society.
The summit held the next day at Walsh University’s Global Learning Center featured keynote speaker Tim Dimhoff, one of the nation's leading authorities in vulnerability assessments, terrorism, and crime, and a former Walsh international student and trafficking survivor.
Saturday’s event included a one-mile walk in silence for those who have been silenced through the tragedy of human trafficking.
