This week, the Cavs return to Mid-States Football Association Mideast action against rival Malone University at 12 pm at Fawcett Stadium. This is Walsh's home game. The game will be broadcast live on the Walsh University Football Radio Network (News-Talk 640 AM WHLO, AM 900 WCER) and on the internet at www.wcer.us and www.640whlo.com. The game will also be televised on tape delay at 8 pm on Saturday and on Sunday at 10 pm on the following: Time Warner Cable Digital (365), WVIM TV 52, WIVN TV 29, Tuscarawas County, Holmes County, Carroll County Channel 99, Massillon Cable (21) and Clear Picture Wayne County (21).
Walsh climbed back into the win column with a hard-fought 30-21 win over visiting Urbana University. Urbana scored in three plays on the games' first possession, driving 88 yards in less than one minute to take a 6-0 lead. The PAT failed. Walsh got on the board in the second quarter when Tim Cox (Jr., Minerva, OH/HS) scored on a two-yard run. Eric Buchanan's (So., Green Cove Springs, FL/Clay) extra point gave the Cavs a 7-6 lead at the 13:57 mark. Urbana regained the lead at the 12:04 mark, when Jason Conner returned a Walsh punt 84 yards for a score. The two-point conversion pass failed and Urbana led 12-7. Walsh rallied on the next possession, when Jim Shiplett (Fr., Canal Fulton, OH/Northwest) threw a 19-yard TD pass to Clinton Blossomgame (So., Columbus, OH/Beechcroft) to cap-off a 66-yard drive at the 9:18 mark. Walsh's two-point try failed, and the Cavs took to a 13-12 lead into the locker room.
Walsh extended the lead to 20-12 at the 11:13 mark of the third quarter, when Shiplett and Mike Garden (Sr., Akron, OH/Copley) connected on a 30-yard pass play. It was Garden's first career TD catch. Buchanan then converted the extra point. Urbana then came roaring back, as Kirk Hannah scored on a 71-yard run on the next possession to close to within 20-18. The pass attempt for two points to tie the game failed. Urbana regained the lead at the start of the fourth quarter; when Matt Hausheer kicked a 30-yard field goal to give the Blue Knights a 21-20 lead with 14:45 to play. Walsh then returned the favor at the 4:48 mark, when Buchanan booted a 46 yarder, for a 23-21 advantage. The Cavs then put the game away, when Shiplett scored on a one-yard plunge with 52 seconds to play.
Shiplett, making his second straight start, completed 12 of 17 passes for 158 yards. Garden was his favorite receiver with six catches for 103 yards. John Rutan (Jr., Hartville, OH/Lake) also caught four passes for 36 yards. Blossomgame rushed for 82 yards, but left the game in the fourth quarter with an injury to his left knee. He is scheduled for a MRI on Tuesday. Blossomgame still leads the MSFA in rushing, averaging 116.7 yards per game.
Brian Williams (Jr., Canton, OH/McKinley/Findlay) leads the MSFA in kick returns (30.3), while punter J.C. Heighway (Sr., North Canton, OH/Hoover) is second in punting (41.5).

Malone won its third straight game last Saturday, downing Taylor University 42-17 in an MSFA Mideast contest. MSFA Mideast Player of the Week, quarterback Billy Bob Orsagh, completed 21 of 27 passes for 420 yards and five TDs. Orsagh is second in the MSFA in passing yards per game (309.0) and TD passes (15). He has thrown only one interception. One of his favorite targets, Derek Deardorff, is second in the MSFA, averaging a little over seven catches per game.
