The Sociology Major provides students with an understanding of social setting; its unique influence on behavior, group structure, and group processes; and how this may promote social change.
- examines behavior through symbolic interactionism, functionalism, conflict perspectives, and feminist thought
- studies social problems through courses such as criminal justice, minority groups, family systems, population
Majors may concentrate in specialized area of social problems (i.e., criminology/criminal justice or family studies).
