Social and Behavioral Sciences

Psychology, Sociology, and Government and Foreign Affairs (formerly Political Science) comprise the undergraduate majors in the Social and Behavioral Sciences Program at Walsh University. The majors are designed to provide insights about human behaviors, explore how groups of people interact, and understand the contributions and limitations of knowledge. To accomplish this the program focuses on four broad goals:

  • introduces behavioral and social science majors to a variety of perspectives on why individuals and groups behave as they do
  • promotes within each student an appreciation of human diversity in various cultures
  • develops skills relevant to research methods, statistical analysis, and presentation of an acceptable professional paper
  • provides "hands on" experience for sociology majors and psychology majors with the community/clinical emphasis through an extensive senior-year internship; internship is optional for government and foreign affairs majors
