Dunnerstick Robert

Dr. Robert Dunnerstick is an Assistant Professor of Middle Childhood Education. He teaches both graduate and undergraduate courses in the Division of Education.  He earned his B.S., M.S., and Ed.D. from the University of Akron.  Dr. Dunnerstick served as a Teacher,Principal and School Superintendent.  He also was Chief Operating Officer at the Ohio Department of Education.  He joined the faculty at Walsh University in 2003.

Teaching

Dr. Dunnerstick teaches EDUC107 (School and Society), Clinical Seminar, and graduate courses including: Teacher as a Mentor, Philosophy of Education, Legal and Ethical Issues, and the History of Education.  He advises undergraduates in AYA, MCE, and ISE.

Scholarship

Dr. Dunnerstick attended the NCATE Institutional Orientation in 2007. His research interests include electronic portfolios, collaboration with school administrators, and school management.   The SPA report he completed for MCE Language Arts received national recognition, and resulted in presentations.  Dr. Dunnerstick is an active member of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD), American Association of School Administrators (AASA), the Buckeye Association of School Administrators (BASA), the Ohio MIddle School Association (OMSA) and the Society for Information Technology in Teacher Education (SITE).   He has presented/published at various regional, state, national, and international conferences. 

Service

Dr. Dunnerstick serves the Division as Chair of Search Committees, the Teacher Preparation Committee, Standards 5-6, and Discipline.  He serves at the University level on Graduate Council, Commencement Marshal, and other academic committees.  He also volunteers at his local church, where he serves as Head Usher.  He is a member of the Green and North Canton Chambers of Commerce.
