Outreach Programs

The Division of Education faculty and students engage in several unique partnerships that serve children and their families of the local communities Service learning and outreach opportunities provide education majors with opportunities to connect theory with practice and reflect on these life-changing experiences.

Walsh University take seriously the Judeo-Christian ideals upon which this institution has been founded. Walsh University Division of Education students are engaged in the following service learning and outreach programs:

  • Theology - Education Division Urban Outreach: Collaboration with the Diocese of Youngstown-Includes Hispanic outreach satellite sites in Stark County, Potters Wheel Program, Mahoning County,Hispanic Summer Camp, St Anthony’s Catholic Church,andAfter-School Urban Outreach Programs beginning fall, 08 at St Paul’s Catholic Church
  • Education Club S.T.A.R.S. Program- Collaboration with Sisters of Charity/Mercy Medical  
  • Walsh University After School Enrichment Program, for children ages 6 to 10  (On-campus program)Collaboration with Portage Montessori School -  (5 school district compact) 
  • Stark County Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities, Inc ( On-campus program through Southgate School Jobs Program)
