Museum Studies

The interdisciplinary major in Museum Studies is one of the only degree-granting undergraduate programs of its kind in the Midwest. The core of the major is a combination of courses addressing issues and challenges of museum management and operations with practical applications. Museum professionals from the Massillon Museum and the National First Ladies Library  worked as partners with Walsh faculty designing a curriculum that meet the best standards of the profession. Students will have the opportunity to gain real museum experience at Walsh University’s own museum, the Hoover History Center, as well as at any number of the prominent museums in Stark County. Students supplement their courses in Museum Studies with electives from across the academic disciplines. The major is designed to facilitate the student interested in combining Museum Studies with a second major such as History, Management, Education, or Communication. A minor in Museum Studies is also available.
