International Friends Program
What is International Friends?
Founded on the idea that we can all learn from each other, the International Friends program brings families and international students together in friendship.
Over the years, we have learned that international students have different ideas about life in the United States based on movies, magazines and television.Unfortunately, some international students leave the United States without ever visiting the home of an American family or experiencing a traditional American holiday.Through International Friends, area families get to know international students and international students get to share typical American family life.
The goal of the International Friends program is to strengthen the ties international students have with members of North Canton and the surrounding communities to provide a meaningful experience for our students and to develop goodwill ambassadors as our international students leave Walsh University.
Who can be an International Friend? – You can!
International Friends consists of international students and the citizens of North Canton and surrounding communities. They are teachers, business owners, city employees, students, farmers, doctors, church members, service club members, and others who get together on a regular basis with an international student from Walsh University.
International Friends do typical American activities together such as attending a football game, dinner with the family, a BBQ, watching a movie, going for a walk, playing baseball, or going shopping.Everyday events that we take for granted can be a new experience for an international visitor.
By becoming International Friends, we help the world build ties between the United States and other countries.
