FAQs

1. Can I work on campus?

F-1 students are permitted to work on campus for a maximum of 20 hours per week during the academic year and full time on campus during official breaks. Students are responsible for searching for employment with various departments when you arrive. There are opportunities to work in food service, administrative support, and maintenance. F-1 students are NOT permitted to work off campus without government approval.

2. Is housing available during winter and summer breaks?

Yes, housing is available on campus during official breaks by special advance arrangement with Residence Life.

3. What is the weather like?

At Walsh, you will experience the beautiful change of seasons: golden and red leaves in autumn (Sept – Nov), white snow in the winter (Dec-Feb), budding flowers in the spring (Mar-May), and green grass and trees in the summer (June-Aug).

In Ohio, the weather is always changing! Types of precipitation include rain, snow, sleet, and sometimes even hail. The temperature can be very cold during the winter and very hot in the summer – but we regulate the building temperatures with heat and air conditioning to keep everyone comfortable inside.

If you do not own winter clothing, we will provide an opportunity to go to a store and purchase boots, gloves, a scarf, and a hat.

4. Is there an International Club? What other opportunities are available to get involved on campus?

Walsh’s International Club is comprised of both international and American members who seek to provide cultural events on campus and build a supportive network for international students. The club organizes events like the annual international dinner, Chinese New Year, and international film nights. For more information, contact the club president, Selahaddin Ibrahimy

There are many other opportunities to get involved with campus life. For more information on activities, intramural sports, and student organizations, visit Student Life.
