ANNOUNCING
Call for Applications for Artist in Residence at Walsh University in Fall 2009
In a pilot project for an annual Artist in Residence at the main campus of Walsh University, regional artists are invited to apply to serve as Artist in Residence in Fall 2009. The post may include such responsibilities as:
· Co-teaching 1-2 courses appropriate to the applicant’s expertise and experience
· Working with select group of students on creative projects, to be completed in Fall 2009
· Contributing works for exhibit or performance on campus, open to the community
· Workshops or presentations for varied age groups on aspects of art
· Interaction, both formal and informal, with students, faculty and the broader community at certain events such as receptions or open houses
· Production of a performance or work designed to have lasting impact on the campus (could be a work of art that remains at Walsh)
Qualifications are:
· College degree, preferably in arts field and at the master’s level
· Professional experience as artist (work history, record of performances or exhibits, experience in conducting workshops, etc.)
· Teaching experience at the college level (or other), in or out of the classroom
· Ability to talk about one’s art so as to inspire and instruct non-art majors
· Respect for the values-based educational mission of Walsh University
A very modest stipend will be offered in this pilot project, with co-teaching at extra compensation. The position assumes an average of 8-20 hours per week on campus, August 24-December 11. Specific details will be available during on-campus interviews.

SOCIOLOGY
Assistant Professor, Sociology (fulltime tenure track) to begin August 2009. Teach courses in sociology and criminal justice concentration. Undergraduate courses offered include principles, social problems, juvenile crime/justice, contemporary policing, social and cultural diversity, comparative criminal justice systems, women in prison, statistics, and research methods. Participate in the development of a MA in sociology focused in criminal justice and family studies. Strong commitment to teaching, scholarship, student advising, and University service is expected. PhD in Sociology with teaching experience required.

COUNSELING AND HUMAN DEVELOPMENT
Assistant Professor (Tenure-track) in Counseling and Human Development Master’s Program to begin August, 2009. Teach core counseling courses in CACREP-accredited Mental Health and School Counseling programs, and clinical counseling courses (especially Addictions); advising; grant development; active scholarship program. Qualifications: earned Ph.D. in Counselor Education, with strong commitment to counselor identity; at least 3 years clinical counseling experience in community mental health and/or addictions treatment; LPCC-Supervisor eligible in Ohio; teaching experience in core and clinical courses.

Tenure Track Appointment for Education Professor
Walsh University, a Catholic institution located in North Canton, OH, offers a liberal arts undergraduate education and graduate programs at the master’s level, including a Master of Arts in Education. A commitment to the Judeo Christian tradition, diversity, and service learning is critical to the mission of the Division of Education and to the University.
The Division of Education is seeking candidates with a minimum of 3 years AYA (Adolescent to Young Adult) or MCE (Middle Childhood) teaching experience, preferably in a math or science classroom. The applicants will have earned a doctorate; been licensed or certified in the field in which the teaching occurred; hold a commitment to teaching best practices in undergraduate courses; and knowledge of program standards proposed by the appropriate SPAs (Specialized Professional Associations). Responsibilities will include teaching AYA/MCE methods classes, teaching appropriate and/or related graduate classes; developing AYA/MCE teacher preparation curriculum, advising students, assisting with readiness for an NCATE visitation and participating in academic scholarship and campus service. The position is available beginning with the fall semester, 2008. Rank and salary will be commensurate with credentials and experience.

(Mental Health Nursing)
The faculty in this position has the primary responsibility for utilizing interactive and innovative strategies in classroom and clinical teaching as well as designing and developing curriculum. The successful candidate will meet the following requirements: MSN required, doctorate in nursing (or related field with MSN) preferred; teaching experience in baccalaureate nursing education; current clinical practice in area of mental health; Ohio licensure or eligibility for licensure required.
Requirements: BSN Nursing MSN and teaching experience in baccalaureate education is preferred, demonstrated current clinical competence (2+ years of clinical experience) and relevant teaching experience is preferred. Current Ohio RN Nursing or eligibility for licensure. Management skills, computer skills (able to operate and learn to manage simulation programs and learning softwares)
