The English major program emphasizes literary studies, writing and language development. Students develop the ability to independently produce effective work, such as essays, research and position papers, professional or technical reports, short fiction or poetry and to interpret the novels, plays, poetry, and short stories that comprise the literature of the U.S. and the world.
